Midnight
Percheron Gelding
Midnight arrived to the farm in March 2024 on the same day as Scooby, and we all immediately fell in love.
He was an owner surrender, after his owner made one of the absolute hardest decisions that they could have had to make. After purchasing Midnight from an online listing, he arrived to his new home and, after three weeks, began experiencing eye infections. The infections were recurring for months on end, and his veterinarian recommended that he be seen at Tufts for diagnostic testing. Last June, his infections became more severe, and it was recommended that either his afflicted eye be removed or that he be moved to a rehabilitation barn with more hands-on medical support and observation. Unfortunately, the vet at the rehabilitation barn recommended one of three options: removing both eyes, moving Midnight to a sanctuary, or euthanasia.
We are so grateful that Midnight's owner chose to move him to a sanctuary to receive love and care for the rest of his many, many days, and that she has entrusted HORSE of CT with his care.
Since arriving at the farm, Midnight has made close friends with Holly, who serves as his seeing eye horse, and Sassy, his sweet neighbor. He spends his days grazing and wandering gently around his paddock and field, and enjoys long walks and working under saddle in the ring. We're so proud of his progress already!
